Our Story
Our Mission
For the Love of Film
The Washita River Film Society is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Charitable Organization that aims to bring more entertainment to Southern Oklahoma. Our main objective is to celebrate and promote the art of cinema.
We aim to provide a platform for diverse films, ranging from international and classic to independent and avant-garde, that might not receive widespread attention in commercial theaters.
We plan regular screenings, our annual film festival, and events that foster discussions and engage audiences in an immersive cinematic experience. We aim to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation for film as an art form while building a sense of community among fellow film enthusiasts.
We invite people to share their love for storytelling, expression, and the magic of the silver screen.

Uraina C. Smith
Producer | Actress | Writer — Multi-Award-Winning Creative
Uraina C Smith is a versatile powerhouse in the Oklahoma entertainment industry, excelling in high-impact roles both in front of and behind the camera. As the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the 501(c)(3) Washita River Film Society and the prestigious Red Brick Road Film Festival, she is a central figure in the region's independent film community.
As the owner of A Muse Films LLC, Uraina's creative breadth is unmatched. She is an award-nominated actress, a two-time award-winning Wardrobe Stylist, and an accomplished writer, producer, and production designer. From her work on the feature film Persephone to her expertise in high-art visual storytelling, Uraina combines a sophisticated aesthetic with a tireless commitment to independent cinema. Whether building immersive worlds through design or delivering compelling performances, she remains one of Oklahoma's most influential creative leaders.
Dathan Smith
Actor | Writer | Director | Producer — SAG
Dathan Smith is an Oklahoma-based SAG actor, writer, director, and producer whose work spans film, television, and live theatre. His award-winning series LIFE Anthologies is streaming worldwide on platforms including Tubi, Amazon Prime, Fawesome, and FuboTV, bringing independent storytelling to a global audience. Committed to fostering regional filmmaking, Smith is the co-founder of the Washita River Film Society and the Red Brick Road Film Festival, now celebrating its fifth year supporting emerging and established voices in independent film.
In addition to his creative work, Smith serves as Marketing Director for The Wick Theatre & Costume Museum in Boca Raton, Florida, and Costume World in Pompano Beach, where he leads branding, audience development, and national marketing initiatives. Working remotely from Oklahoma, he continues to bridge the gap between regional artistry and national reach, building a career defined by storytelling, collaboration, and a deep commitment to the arts.
